I came across ENSEE‘s fashion illustrations recently and immediately fell in love with her style.

ENSEE-Fashion-Illustration-2

ENSEE‘s style is very simple and all 3 illustrations here have a very pure and innocent vibe. I like the way she illustrated the girls’ eyes as they help to capture the audience attention.

I really enjoy seeing ENSEE‘s illustrations and I hope in the near future, she will dress her girls in some of the high end fashion house’s pieces.

There is no doubt António is a talented illustrator and recently he has created these 2 amazing Lanvin F/W 2013 inspired illustrations.

Antonio-Soares-Lanvin-Fall-2013-1

As I said before, I always feel like each character illustrated by António has an interesting background story. In here, I believe both girls are very powerful, but inside them, they both believe in true love. Do you agree with me?

It’s been awhile since I last featured Gerardo‘s works on here and today, I am happy to show you his latest fashion illustration!

Gerardo-Larrea-Versace-Fall-2013Courtesy of Gerardo Larrea

This illustration is based on Versace F/W 2013 collection. Gerardo has done a very job here as I can totally feel the punk vibe. The composition is nice and I like the outfits he picked for this specific art work. Overall, I feel like these girls should be part of the MET Gala exhibition.

I always feel Nabil is playing tricks with my eyes whenever I look at his illustration works. They are so realistic to a point I feel like they are actual photos. This series is not exception.

Nabil-Nezzar-Le-Belle-1

In this series, the models are illustrated in black and white, while the clothes are in vibrant colours. This combination creates an interesting contrast to show the soft side of the female model. Once again, the textures of the clothing look very realistic to a point I want to use my hands to touch the images. At this point, I think I just cannot get enough of Nabil‘s works!

If you can hang one of these 4 images on your wall, which one will you choose?

The KENTON Magazine x Caitlin Power illustration contest has already crowned the winner, but at this moment, I want to go back in time and show you a 2nd piece by one of the contestants.

Velwyn-Yossy-Caitlin-Power-Fall-2013-2Courtesy of Velwyn Yossy

This illustration is created by Velwyn Yossy and I believe she created this after her 1st submission. Just like her usual illustration style, the piece is slightly abstract and the split colour background creates an illusion that the figure is chopped in half. In my opinion, this one is just as good as the first one.

Are you a fan of this piece?

While I was browsing Behance the other day, this illustration immediately caught my eyes and of course, I fell in love with it instantly.

Kendall-Lock-Alexander-McQueen-Fall-2013Courtesy of Kendall Lock

This illustration is done by Kendall Lock and it is inspired by the Alexander McQueen F/W 2013 collection. I like the details of the face and the soft brush strokes on the clothes help to show the movement of the garment. The pink-ish colour background also works very well with this illustration.

I wonder what Kendall will illustrate next. Her name will for sure be on my radar from now on.

Illustrating a look book image is not a new idea, but if you can inject a new energy to the collection, then this illustration will become special. Here is a good example.

These 2 illustrations are created by Natalie Suarez and I find them very interesting. Her style reminds me of comic books and I feel like they can serve as the covers of some fashion illustration notebooks. I hope that Natalie will start to work on some creative fashion illustrations in the future as I do see potential in her. What do you think?

If you know me in person, you should realize I am a comic book nerd. Few months ago, Swide asked me if I would work on a project based on Superheroes from both the DC and Marvel Universe, and my answer was yes!

For this project, I have decided to invite 2 illustrators to dress some of our favourite super heroes in Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2013 collection. Each artist has a unique illustration style, but they both have this pop art flare in common. Today, it’s my honour to bring you Peter McNierney‘s version of Marvel Universe.

Peter-McNierney-Dolce-and-Gabbana-Spring-2013-SpidermanSpierman

I love Peter‘s minimalist illustration style and it works very well with the Marvel characters. In my mind, I always feel the Marvel Superheroes to be very clean cut and smooth, and these illustrations are very similar to my vision. The Storm piece is probably my favourite because it really shows the bold vibe of the character.

Please visit Swide to read what Peter thinks about this project and the challenges he had when working on the pieces. Stay tuned as I will unveil the DC Universe series soon!

The new season is almost here and Joyce boutique in Hong Kong has commissioned one of my favourite illustrators to work on the store’s latest campaign!

Antonio-Soares-Celine-Fall-2013 Celine F/W 2013

António Soares has created 7 illustrations for this campaign and here are 5 of them. There is no doubt I am a fan of his illustration style and I think he has done an amazing job on illustrating the models (especially the facial expression) and the clothes.

Next week, I will show you the rest of this campaign!

Not going to lie, I was actually worried Zarina would not update the Higgs site after the June 24th update. Luckily, this was not true and on July 15th, she uploaded her latest work!

In this illustration, Caramella is dressed in Delpozo S/S 2013 collection. I think the outfit works very well with the character and the illustration has a very whimsical vibe, which is one of the main reasons I am attracted to Zarina‘s works!

Now I can’t wait to to see what Zarina will illustrate next!

On Tuesday, I showed you the Marvel Superheroes in Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2013 collection by Peter McNierney and I hope you like the illustrations. Today, it’s time to show you BENDA‘s version of DC Superheroes!

Ben-Liu-Catwoman-Audrey-Hepburn-Dolce-and-Gabbana-Spring-2013Audrey Hepburn as Catwoman

I agree with the artist that DC Superheroes at some point are more human like and this is why he uses Andrey Hepburn, Noah Mills, David Gandy and Monica Bellucci as the inspirations for this series. Here, the Superheroes are on vacation and you have the chance to get a glimpse of what they do during their free time. I personally think this is an awesome series as it combines pop culture, fashion (they all are in Dolce & Gabbana S/S 2013 collection), humour and pop art into 4 illustrations.

Overall, both the DC and Marvel series are great an I am glad the artists can show the spirit of each universe with their unique illustration styles. Please visit Swide to get more information about this project.

To all the illustrators out there, which Superhero do you want to illustrate the most and what kind of clothing do you want to put him/her in?

I think Lidia is unstoppable because she has done another amazing Haute Couture illustration again!

Lidia-Luna-Valentino-Haute-Couture-Fall-2013

This illustration is based on Valentino F/W 2013 Haute Couture collection. I am in love with the details of the dress and the rhinoceros works very well with this image. At some point, I feel like this illustration is glowing because of the colour palette. Now I wish there is a print for this illustration as I want to hang it up on my wall!

Well done!

Bonus: I also saw this illustration of the Valentino Haute Couture F/W 2013 clutch and I just need to share it with you! Lidia, you have really blown my mind!

I always have a special spot for the S/S 2011 season because there are so many funky elements in each collection. Studio Fantasma has created a few illustrations based on that season and I would love to show them to you here.

Studio-Fantasma-Prada-Spring-2011Prada

These few illustrations are part of Studio Fantasma‘s personal project and some of the brands they have illustrated are Prada, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs. I like the collage style of these illustrations and each piece contains the main elements of each collection. Overall, it is a very fun and pretty series.

At this moment, I really need to think hard on what kind of collaboration I can do with the group. Do you have any suggestion?

The S/S season is almost over, but that does not mean illustrators are done with this season’s fashion illustrations. Below is one of them.

Sunny Gu has once again stunned me with this amazing illustration based on Christian Dior S/S 2013 Haute Couture collection. I am in love with the composition and the sunflowers work so well with the outfit. In my opinion, I think this is one of the most solid pieces I have seen from Sunny. What do you think?

If you are an illustrator, you might always have this question in mind: If I am going to illustrate a look book image, how can I make it more fun? Well, here is one of your suggestions.

Nabil-Nezzar-Alexander-McQueen-Pre-Fall-2013-1

These 2 Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2013 illustrations are done by Nabil Nezzar. Instead of using a plain background, the artist uses a colourful oriental inspired background to create a contrast against the clothing pieces. This is a good attempt from the artist because now the background adds energy to the images. I personally think Nabil should keep trying this style as it might inspire him to do more cool things in the future!

Denis Vedrentsev is one of the illustrators who has sent me his portfolio for review recently, and after looking at his site, this illustration below has completely stolen my heart.

This piece is inspired by Christian Dior Haute Couture and it reflects the aesthetic of the brand very well. I like the composition a lot and it is a brilliant idea to have the model interacting with the logo. I will be very interested to see what he will illustrate if his topic is on Chanel Haute Couture.

What do you think?

I am a big fan of realistic fashion portraits so this series below is definitely my cup of tea.

Eleen-Tan-Fashion-Portrait-1

These portraits are illustrated by Eleen Tan and they are very beautiful. As I said before, they look very realistic and the brush strokes make you feel like the models are in motion. I find these portraits to have a very bold vibe because of the strong colours and the details.

Overall, this is an amazing series and I can’t wait to see what Eleen has in store for us in the future!

This illustration is created by Peter McNierney and as I said before, it is inspired by The Birth of Venus painting. In here, the lady is dressed in an outfit from the Thierry Mugler archives and she emits a very sexy and elegant vibe. I like the dual colour combination here and the green hair really makes the model to stand out (she does look like an alien queen). Overall, it is another amazing work by Peter!
